Sigma Composites is celebrating after being awarded the aerospace quality management standard AS9100.

Part of Sigma Components, it will now develop its product range for aerospace manufacturers and suppliers worldwide.

Mark Johnson, managing director of Sigma Components, said: “We’re delighted that Sigma Composites has achieved AS9100, which will open doors as we develop our composites product range for aerospace manufacturers.

“The team has an excellent track record working with composite materials and Rohacell and securing AS9100 for the composites business was a key part of our business plan when we formed the company.

“The aerospace industry is constantly looking to reduce weight while improving both the environmental and operational performance so, while we already supply composite aerospace interiors to a number of customers, there is real potential to expand our range to include components for aero-engines and airframes too.”

Sigma Composites recently secured €1.8m funding from the Clean Sky Program to develop composite pipe assemblies for use in aero-engine applications. For further information, visit
